Ask Solar Mike's Current Rebate Offer, Explained (Updated July 2026)

July 06, 20263 min read

Utah's solar incentive landscape shifted in 2026. The federal tax credit ended January 1, and Tesla's manufacturer-funded instant rebate, tied to a July 4, 2026 deadline, has now concluded. If you saw either of those mentioned somewhere and are wondering what is left, here is exactly what Ask Solar Mike currently offers.

The current offer, plainly stated

Mike still offers 30 percent off qualifying Tesla Solar Panel and Solar Roof systems. In addition, Mike offers his own $2,000 rebate on top of that discount. If Rocky Mountain Power is your electric utility, there is also a separate $2,000 rebate available directly through Rocky Mountain Power's own program, which stacks with Mike's offer. Combined, Rocky Mountain Power customers can access 30 percent off plus up to $4,000 in rebates. Municipal utility customers still get the 30 percent and Mike's $2,000 rebate, just not the RMP-specific piece.

Why this is different from the old federal tax credit

The federal tax credit was a percentage you claimed on your taxes the following year, and it required filing paperwork and waiting for the benefit. It ended for cash and loan buyers on January 1, 2026. Mike's 30 percent and $2,000 rebate work differently: they are applied to your project directly by Mike, and the Rocky Mountain Power rebate is administered by RMP for its own customers. None of it depends on your tax situation.

Confirm your utility before assuming what you qualify for

The single most important thing to check is which utility serves your home. If you are on Rocky Mountain Power, you likely qualify for the full stack: 30 percent plus $4,000. If you are on a municipal utility such as Provo City Power, Murray City Power, Lehi City Power, or another city-run utility, you still get 30 percent plus Mike's $2,000, but not the RMP rebate. Mike confirms this from your address before finalizing your quote.

What has not changed

Utilities are still projecting close to 10 percent annual electricity rate increases, up from a historical 4 percent, driven largely by AI data-center demand and aging grid infrastructure. That trend, not any single incentive program, is the core reason locking in your own solar production cost still makes sense in 2026.

FAQ

Is this the same as the old "instant 30% rebate"? No. That program was tied to Tesla and a July 4, 2026 deadline that has passed. The current offer is Mike's 30 percent discount plus his $2,000 rebate, plus a separate RMP rebate for RMP customers.

How do I know if I'm an RMP customer? Check a recent power bill, or Mike can confirm this from your address before finalizing your quote.

Is there a deadline on the current offer? No published deadline right now. Confirm current terms with Mike, since programs can change.
